Terahertz Physics Group
We study various physical processes and phenomena that occur at terahertz (THz) frequencies.
Examples are low-energy excitations (1THz = 4.1 meV) such as lattice vibrations of solids (phonons), spin waves (magnons)
as well as quasifree electrons. THz electromagnetic pulses are our most important tool to probe and even
control such resonances.
Our work also focuses on the efficient generation of THz radiation by means of
femtosecond laser pulses and its manipulation in photonic structures such as waveguides and antennas.
